Saving a Swatch

Hello,

Could somebody help me out?  I created a pattern in Illustrator and saved it as a Swatch, but it's not appearing in any other document.  It is only available in this one artboard that it was created.  I've had this problem in the past, where saved Swatches aren't really saved.  Am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks.

Swatches are only present in the file you saved them.

If you want them in other files as well, either:

- import them

- save them in a template, or new document profile and use it for creating new files

- save them in a library and load this library permanently
