Scale shape while maintaining the stroke weight

Hi there, Illustrator beginning here. I have a basic basic question that should be pretty easy to do but I cannot seem to find a way to do it. I searched through the previous questions but didn't find anything that matches.

I am trying to scale a shape drawing with pattern brush without scaling the stroke width itself.

Here is the setup i have:

1. Define a pattern

2. Create a stroke brush using the pattern

3. Draw a shape using the brush

This will draw a line with the patter size that was defined by step 1. However, let's say I want to draw a new line but with the pattern but just bigger. I would like to be able to change the size of the pattern dynamically (e.g., without having to define a brush for each size). I cannot seem to find a way to do this.

If I change the weight of the stroke, it does change the size of the pattern but it also changes the stroke weight. I tried both with "Scale strokes and effects" turned on and off but they all produced the same result. I played around with bunch of options in the appearance panel as well but couldn't get this work.

Could this be duone and if so, could you explain to achieve it?

Thanks!

This works perfectly. However, let's say I want to draw using the same pattern but bigger.

This kind of stroke weight preservation in conjunction with brush elements has been requested quite often in the past.

Unfortunately, there is still no easy way to do it. Sometimes some tricks may help, but often not.

Can you please show screenshots of what is happening that you do not want to happen?

Apologies for not including screenshots.

Here is the original symbol:

Here is a line drawn with the brush using the symbol above:

So far so good. I want to incrase the size of the oval so that it looks like this:

The only way that I can see to increase the size is to change the weight, but changing the weight also affect the stroke width:

I could fix this by defining a new pattern and new brush, but that doesn't scale if i have various different sizes. So I was wondering if there is a better way to support this scenario.

Thank you.

Thanks for the response. That's too bad that it's not supported.
