Hi, all,

I've been hunting for scripts and the like to try and cobble together something to export a chosen range of artboards in PNG, JPG and EPS formats.

There are scripts for exporting PNG and the like, which is great. But I'm struggling because I would like it to do the following:

Dialog prompt asks for the artboard number(s)

The chosen artboard(s) are exported as PNG, JPG and EPS

BUT, the artboard name is put at the end of the filename, e.g. masterfile_theartboardname.png

AND, they are saved in the same folder as the original Illustrator file

Is that at all possible with scripting?

Many thanks if anyone is able to help point me in the right direction

Hello @JustyR,

Have you tried the built-in feature within Illustrator "Export for screens.."

Regards,

Mike

Hello Mike,

I tried Export for Screens a while ago but it doesn't save out eps and it still requires too many clicks and button presses.

However, I was able to automate what I wanted with Keyboad Maestro.

So with a keyboard shortcut it opens a dialog where I type in the artboard number or range.

That's saved as a variable and it then works through all the open ai files (8 of them) and exports as or save as, ticking the Use Artboards button and pasting the variable into the range box.

Bit cumbersome and not as fast as a script would be but I don't know enough javascript to be pulling apart multiexporter. Still, at least it's less taxing than saving them out by hand.
