I can't find the way to activate any of my external volumes (SSD and HDD) as secondary volumes in Illustrator (V.26.0.3). I am able to choose them in the related menue but it's not being saved or used after restart. The same harddrives work totally fine in photoshop as secondary volumes.
Illustrator has this function. But Illustrator and Photoshop do not have the same working logic. RAM memory usage is different.
Illustrator second and third disc may not be identified. This will not cause any performance loss.
For your question, unfortunately I can only guess. It's vital and not mandatory in Illustrator. For this reason, every computer may not see it at shutdown and startup. I haven't tried this. I will try.
