Selection tool not moving object

This just started out of the blue, no other programs open, I'm in Mac BigSur 11.3.1, Ill is up to date, tried restarting, reinstalling Ill, reset Ill preferences, ESC button works occasionally, moving with arrow keys will work but very frustrating when you have to move an image across the page. I've been using Adobe products since the late 80's and have never run into this weirdness, HELP.

Wow, looks like that worked, so weird. So is the apple mouse going bad? Is there a way to fix it?

The engineers are aware of the issue and together with Apple working on a fix.

Please search for the issue on http://illustrator.uservoice.com and add your vote. Then you will be notified of the progress.

We are sorry for the trouble. This issue has been fixed in the latest Illustrator update, v26.2.1, released yesterday. I would request you to update and let us know if the issue persists.

We are sorry to hear about this. Would you mind trying resetting Illustrator preferences? If that doesn't help, would you mind sharing a few details along like:

• The exact version of the OS
• Do you see a green + sign icon while dragging the object in Illustrator?
• Are you using the Apple Magic mouse?
• Is this happening in a specific document or all?
• Are there any recent changes made to your system? For example, any antivirus, system updates, plugins, or web extensions installed recently.

Hi Anshul.

OS: 11.6.8 (I can't update beyond Big Sur).

Yes, green + sign when dragging objects.

Yes, latest Apple Magic Mouse.

Happens in all Illustrator documents.

Only recent changes: updated to latest Illustrator. OS update yesterday, Illustrator obj drag issue happened before and after OS update.

This is a huge hindrance to my workflow. Please fix it. Pretty please with sugar on it!

A couple of people could associate it with the Apple Mouse. What happens when you use a different one?

I don't have another mouse to use but I tried using my graphics tablet pen (Wacom Cintiq) and the problem did not appear. This doesn't really solve my problem as it limits me to using the tablet, and I don't like the functionality of the pen with Illustrator. I love my Apple mouse and would like to use it with Illustrator.

Hi All,

We are sorry for the trouble. This issue appeared earlier in v26.1 and later got fixed in v26.2.1, but it has resurfaced again.

The product team is aware of the issue & they have identified the issue and currently working on a fix. I would request you to upvote this UserVoice for updates and stay tuned for the updates.

In the meantime, you may install the older version of Ai v26.3.1.
