Shape builder tool doesn't work with a mesh.

I have created handwriting with a stroke and then expanded its appearance. Now I want to cut out the angular head of the 'h', but the shape builder tool doesn't work with it. When I try to do it, the rectangle is removed, but the head of the 'h' remains. Please help me.

I meant "d", not "h".

You cannot use this on a mesh.

If masking is OK, then use either a clipping mask or an opacity mask.

the proposed solution of first finalizing the stroke and then expanding makes a lot of sense.
