Ai 2024 & Ventura 13.6.9

When attempting to select additional fonts from the 'Find More' tab, only a few load initially in the drop-down menu. As I scroll further down the list, the new fonts don't appear, requiring me to scroll down and then back up again, I then sit and wait and wait and wait. The drop-down menu is also very small, especially on 27" screens. After eventually finding and selecting a suitable font, if I want to continue searching for other options, I have to return to the 'Find More' tab and manually locate where I left off. The system doesn't stay on the last font I selected, so I have to remember and search for it each time.

I don't use any 3rd party font manager. All system fonts are validated.

Thank you for the update, @Peter Carr. Since you’re not using a third-party font manager and all your system fonts are validated, the issue seems more related to how the font selection process is behaving within Illustrator.

 

Here are a few steps you could try:

 

1. Sometimes, the font cache can cause font rendering and selection issues. You can try clearing the font cache on your system.

2. Consider resetting Illustrator’s preferences to their default settings. Corrupt preferences can sometimes lead to unusual behavior.

3. Ensure that Illustrator is updated to the latest version, i.e., v28.6. We frequently release updates that may resolve such issues.

4. Monitor your system’s performance while using the ‘Find More’ tab. If your system is heavily loaded, it might affect how fonts load and display.

I don't like using the "Find More" button in the Fonts Menu. It's basically a short cut to fonts available at Adobe Fonts. I think it works a lot better to simply pull up the Adobe Fonts web site in a web browser and look around for type families there. The process works faster and you'll see far more in the way of details about a type family than you would in a preview via the Illustrator fonts menu.
