Slow Performance | Illustrator 28.5 - macOS 12.7.4

Ever since generative AI was added to Illustrator it has been so laggy. My theory is that it is using to many resources or constantly trying to "phone home" I don't know, but it is beyond annoying. Is there a way to turn off AI? If not there should be.
