Stroke Not Following Curve In Point

Hello ladies and gentlemen. This is my first post on the forum. I was having trouble getting the stroke on a path to follow the curved point. For example, (pay attention to the point) I am trying to accomplish what is shown in the first image, but all I can get is the second image. The stroke just continues at the angle the point ended at. I am trying to achieve the stroke coming to a point that continues the curve from the path. Thanks.

This is how I would do it, the steps will make sense with the video below:

1) Use the pen tool imitating the shape from the outside but with an extra in the right corner

2) Apply a stroke aligned to the center (I've set it at 58 px)

3) Outlike the stroke and remove the extra at the right matching your base shape
