Stuck in artboard rulers

Somehow I inadvertently got myself stuck in Arboard Rulers, and View->Rulers->Switch to Global Rulers is grayed out. How do I get out of this?

Hard reboot your system. Such a weird behavior typically indicates an issue at the system level with your input device.

Thanks for the suggestion Mylenium, but, alas, that didn't work. I found a workaroud, though. I copied all the art from the problem document to a new document, which defaulted to global rulers. I had to recreate all my guides (is there a way to copy guides from one document to another?) but, with that excaption, that worked for me.
