Hi. I'm trying to convert a .svg file to a .ai file so I can open it in AE.

Currently I click File > Save As > Save on your computer. I then make sure the file type is .ai and hit export. However, when I export, it says 'Illustrator tried but could not export the file.

The .svg file is of a graph that I made in Google Sheets.

I am following this tutorial.

What do you mean by export? You can only save (as) .ai, which is not a problem with your file.

Where do you save it?

External drives can cause issues. Try the internal drive.
