in illustrator when i make a text box and type in it if i dont click off it and click the selection tool then i can resise the TEXT and not the TEXTBOX but as soon as i click off it and try to click back on to it and resise it it resises the textbox instead and there is no way to get it to resise the text again???

That's the way that Illustrator works. 

If you want to resize the text when you click back on it, then don't use a text box. Instead, click the Type tool on the artboard and just start typing, which is called Point Type. 

If you put the text in a box and want to resize the text without resizing the box, you can use the keyboard shortcuts. Select the box, hold down Ctrl+Shift and click the greater than or lesser than symbols > to enlarge or < to make text smaller. That would be Command instead of
