The new version of Illustrator is not giving me access to the PMS spot color library - help!

When I go to the Color Books list under Swatch Libraries, I don't get the option to open the PMS Spot colors (coated and uncoated), only the PMS CMYK Coated, PMS CYMK Uncoated and PMS Metallic libraries. I have quit and dumped preferences (holding down the shift, contol, option and command keys when restarting Illustrator) but this didn't help.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.

There are many post about this subject.

Install (or go to if still installed) an older version of Illustrator like 2022 (26.5.2)

In the Creative Cloud app select Apps > All Apps > Illustrator > click the 3 dots …  next to the Open button >  click Other Versions and select 26.5.2

Go the Illustrator 2022 Application folder > Presets > (your language folder) > Swatches > Color Books > and make a copy of PANTONE+ Solid Coated.acb and PANTONE+ Solid Uncoated.acb

Keep them in a safe place and copy them to the same location in the Illustrator 2023 application folder.

There is nothing wrong with your version of Illustrator! PANTONE and Adobe have come to a parting of the ways and the libraries are no longer free with your install of Creative Cloud apps. This is because PANTONE has decided to only provide those libraries by subscription. You can go to PANTONE's website and find out how to subscribe or follow Ton Frederiks' excellent advice.
