There isn't enough available memory (RAM) - I only have 64GB???

I'm getting this error message even though I have 64GB of RAM. It happens when I try to do Inflate in 3D and Materials.

I have tried what was suggested by the help which is:

  1. Update Illustrator to latest version
  2. Reset Illustrator Preferences
  3. Choose a Plug-ins & Scratch Disk with enough space (205GB on C: and 807GB on D:)
  4. Update graphic card drivers and operating system

The file is only 25MB and is an svg file originally made in Canva at about 3000px x 3000px with about a dozen small graphic elements in it.

Does someone know how to fix this issue?

"We've hit a roadblock! There isn't enough available memory (RAM). Try to update Illustrator and your graphics card to the latest version and restart you computer.

There is not enough memory available to process the appearance of an object."

"only 25 MB" 0> this is quite large for an Illustrator file.

And actually it can't be "a dozen small graphic elements in it"

So what is it that you want to inflate? Please show it and please do also show the outline view.

There are clipping masks and placed images. Probably gradients.

You need to release the masks.

Then try and inflat the simple shapes one by one.

You cannot inflate the images.

Thanks, I replaced some of the images. If I delete some objects then it works. Sorry for the basic questions but I am new to Illustrator. So then when I copy in the graphics that I took out, like the snowman, I want to inflate again to include the snowman. With the snowman selected I click on inflate and it says:

'3D and Materials' effect currently works only on some object types and cannot apply as multiple instances.

It also gives that message if I select everything. So what is the procedure to do the graphics that were taken out? It would be great if I could get this to work without removing graphics.

Also I noticed it made an "artifact" in the upper right hand corner, a long gray triangle shape. What is that and how to get rid of it?

In order to figure out the artifact please upload the AI file to Dropbox or the like and post a link. It can happen because of complexity but might also be caused by something in your file.

The snowman is not vector art. You need to draw it using shapes.

I think the snowman is vector art. It was brought in as an svg. How can I tell if it vector or not?

I give up on this. Even after reducing the graphics to an AI file of 500K it still thinks 64GB of RAM isn't enough. AI must be buggy.

I had no issues with your file. It must be caused by the kind of artwork you created.

How did you draw the snowman?

An SVG file can contain a lot of things and can be very intricate. The error message says that for some reasin Illustrator could not handle it.
