Please, someone explain why I'm not seeing the same thing as the tutorial. When I long press the line tool, I only get the rectangle, star and line tools; no arc, no swirl, and no rectangle grid. I'm VERY new to digital graphics and trying to be serious about learning. Is there something wrong with my program?
You probably have only the basic toolbar displayed. PLease try View > Toolbars > Advanced.
There should now be two stacks of geometric shape tools: one with a rectangle and the other with a line.

Hi Monika! Thanks for the response. I found the advanced setting last night. I'm slowly learnig as I go. Ya know, crawl before you run; or something like that. Thanks again.

Thanks for reaching out, and welcome to the world of digital graphics.
It sounds like the tutorial you're following might be using a different version of Illustrator than the one you're currently on. To help you better, could you please confirm your Illustrator version (you can find it under the Help menu > About Illustrator) and let us know your operating system details as well?
Also, as Monika mentioned, you're probably seeing the Basic Toolbar. Try going to the Window menu and selecting Toolbars > Advanced. That should unlock the full set of tools, including the arc, spiral, and grid tools you're looking for.
Let us know if this helps or if you're still seeing something different.
Abhishek

Well, after playing around for a few minutes (hours), I discovered that my tool box was set at beginer. I switched to advanced user and solved the problem. I hope this post helps someone else. Thanks again for the replies.
