I can not get the null sign to disapear when I try to use the live paint tool. I must be missing somthing simple but no clue what. My selected parts have no gaps and properties says it is a live paint area. but does not show in red when I hover and the LPB has the null sign on it when I open it regardless of the options I have selected for it.

Can you share a sample Illustrator file including further instructions in case you think it may help to better understand the issue?

@Dow04468 I think the path needs to be closed for the live paint tool to work properly. If you have overlapping geometric shapes, make sure you use the 'Pathfinder' tool to combine or unite them so that the live paint tool can work.

The beauty of live paint is that you do not have to use any Pathfinder first. And of course Live Paint works with open paths.

No geometric shapes. Just items in a drawing on one layer.
