My trackpad zoom in and out keeps glitching and not working for periods of time. It works and then fails, does anyone know how to fix this?

What kind of Macbook is it? On my Macbook M1 the trackpad is a piece of garbage and works or doesn't work on its own schedule.

Is it only happening in Illustrator? External track pad or laptop trackpad? Mac, Windows? I have 2 trackpads for my Mac and both work just fine - external and macbook pro.
