I have downloaded sample files from illustrator tutorials in Adobe Creative Cloud to practice with however every time i try to open them it says the file is in an unknown format and cannot be opened. I have the latest version of Illustrator installed. Any suggestions why this keeps happening?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. In addition to the link of this tutorial, please share the version of OS and Illustrator as well.
You get zip files as samples. Make sure you extract the content from that to get the practice files. Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Ashutosh

Can you clarify that statement? When I read it it sounds like the zip files aren't the actual thing we need, and what we need is somewhere in the file itself that we must find and extract?

A zip file is a compressed file or set of files. You extract them to access the uncompressed files.
