I got a file that was shared to me and includes several linked images,
the image previews are shown in the file, and yes the links are broken, but thats not a problem for me.
What im trying is to get rid of some annoying popup that appears every 2 minutes bloking my whole system "Verifiyin access to 'some IP here'", its really frustrating.
Do someone know how to get rid of this popup, setting to avoid illustrator to check this url, or something?
PS: Yes I have found several post here, but no one got a right answer.
PS2: No, I dont have access to that drive, not will ever.

Hello @Alejandro5FFB,
Thanks for reaching out. Would you mind copying all the objects/layers from this file to a new one to see if it helps?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

How is Checking links set up in your Illustrator preferences in File Handling?
Maybe set that to manually?

Hi @Alejandro5FFB,
I'm sorry to hear the suggestions did not help. Would you mind trying to run Illustrator after rebooting your computer in Safe Mode (Windows / macOS) and checking if it helps?
Also, try packaging your file to a folder on your desktop and then opening it in Illustrator and share your observations.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

@Anubhav M please, I feel that solution has no place in this situation, There is not the first time I had this issue,I had used multiple versions of illustrator , multiple versions of Windows. (also I know from reading here in Adobe Community that I am not the only user with this issue on a thread that someone at Adobe gives random responses like that just a solution to close the thread)
I have already saved into a pdf file, an then open in illustrator, is still the same thing, there is nothing wrong with the filesystem, the file nor reseting my preferences.
My only problem is that illustrator checks every 2 min for a drive that is not there and I cannot disable that check.

I have seen a couple of posts about this, even one with embedded files, none with a clear solution.
Can you try to work with the file on your desktop and Try if turning off in Preferences > File Handling > Optimize File Open and Save Time on Slow Networks helps?

I found a thread about this option
i change it as soon as i had found about that, but, sadly no, the damn think is still popping up
I think its just an Illustrator Bug.

Alejandro, can you create a bug report here: https://illustrator.uservoice.com/
I don't see any mention of this problem there, and it seems that only bugs reported there are considered fixing (if they have enough votes).

Hello @Alejandro5FFB,
I'm sorry to hear the suggestions did not help. Would you mind sharing your files so I can check it on my end:
> Package your file to a folder on your desktop
> Upload it to a file-sharing service like Google Drive/Dropbox/etc.
> Share a public link to the file here or via DM
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello @Alejandro5FFB,
Thanks for sharing the file. I did experience the same problem the first time I opened it, but it went away when I replaced the broken links with files from my local hard drive.
Would you mind embedding the files or placing the linked files in your local folder and relinking them to see if that helps?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

I dont have the files, I dont have the access to that drive, nor will.
Thats the main issue why im posting here.
Illustrator constantly checks for that broken links, there is no way to disable that annoying popup
and basically you cannot work because it blocks everithing.

Hello @Alejandro5FFB,
Thank you for your confirmation. If you cannot access those files, I suggest substituting those links with an alternative file or something visually comparable to resolve the issue. I realize this isn't the best solution, and I apologize for any trouble this may cause.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have further questions or require assistance. We will be glad to help.

you are missing the point, the whole issue with this tread is to the resovle that illustrator is still asking for links that I can no longer access
I feel that you are giving some random answers just to closing the thread, and I'm not willing to.

I'm sorry for the delayed response. Would you mind selecting any of the links under the links panel to check if it shows the location under it?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yes as I already stated in the main Post, the links point to a drive that I not have access, and will not have access, because the file is shared from a client.
But, I dont want to lose the information in this file (I could normally work with that chached data),
my only problem is the popup showing each 2 minutes, that i cannot avoid, or disable.
