Updated from 27.5 to 27.6.1 today and when I try to duplicate an Artboard using the Artboard tool, holding down Alt, click and drag, it freezes Illustrator and have to force quit. It's happened 4 times now in a row.
Attached system info. I went back to 27.5 before I got the system info, not sure if that matters.
As per usual...sigh, I waited for Adobe to release another version, 27.8.1 seems to be working fine now.

How much RAM is installed?
Did you already reboot the system?
Did you already reset the prefernces?
What's on the artboard? Many objects?

How much RAM is installed? - 32gigs, I also previously attached all my system info, please refer to that.

Did you already reset the prefernces? - I'm not doing that. I have way too many preferences to reestablish if I do that...also, that is a cop out for a real fix.
What's on the artboard? Many objects? - Not much.

In order to try out if this could be a preference issue, you could quit Illustrator and then rename the preferences folder.
If you do not want to do that, then probably not a lot of people will be able to help you. But you could try of course and contact Customer Care: https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html

It's not a preference issue, I've done that fix suggestion MANY times before and it's NEVER worked. My preferences have not changed in years.
That is always the default solution for almost every glitch / freeze problem I've ever had on this forum in all the years I've been coming here and in the end, it never turns out to be my Preferences. In fact, it usually requires adobe to release a fix update. So fustrating every time...would like to use the new version features, but am just going to settle to use a stable version 27.5 for now.

Same HERE! can't do anything with it. Locks up! And YES, rebooted, started over with preferences, COME ON!
Shouldn't have to do ANY of that ANYWAY! They simply did NOT do enough testing before releasing this version!@!

Looks like you have some custom plug-ins. Go to the manufacturers website and install updates for those to be compatible with 27.6.1.
What happens if you reinstall 27.5 does it still work in the older version.

When I went back to 27.5, everything worked fine. The only plugin that I have installed is a barcode generator (EAN 13 Barcode Generator) that has never been an issue for the 3+ years I've had it through many updated versions, so I don't really think that was it.
I have since updated to 27.7 and so far it seems to be working fine. So to reiterate what I said before in this chain, it has taken Adobe to release an update to fix the last update. Par for the course I guess.

Well...I retrack my previous comment about 27.7 working fine. It is now crashing seemingly when I try to edit a specific font, Swiss 721 Cn Bt. Crashed 3 times in 15min.
Going back to 27.5 again...sigh.
