Hi all, this is something I have seen popping up several times in Illustrator but never took the time write down:
In my Recent tab in Illustrator I see far more from an image than is actually visible when opening the file.
This happens with files I receive from others (customers) as well, so it sometimes looks like I can see artwork that was deleted later before they sent it to me.
It even happens with JPG files: I see more in the preview then is in the actual JPG.
Has anyone seen this behaviour as well?

Hi @jeroenv45252539,
Thanks for sharing this. Just to confirm, when you mention the recent version, are you currently on Illustrator 30.1? Please also let me know your OS details.
I tested this by creating and saving a file in 30.1 and saw the Recent screen preview updating correctly on my end. To help narrow this down, could you confirm where the affected files are stored, whether on a local drive, Creative Cloud, an external drive, or a remote location? Also, were these files created in 30.1 or in an earlier Illustrator version?
As a first step, please try signing out and then signing back in to the Creative Cloud desktop app and test again. If the issue continues, rename the CEP folder to CEP.old from /Library/Application Support/Adobe on macOS or C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe on Windows. If that does not help, rename the UXP folder to UXP.old from /Library/Application Support/Adobe and ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe on macOS, or from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe and C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe on Windows, then relaunch Illustrator and test once more.
If the behavior still persists, please close all Adobe applications, remove the Creative Cloud Desktop application along with CCLibrary and CoreSync using the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop application, and then relaunch Illustrator.
Let me know how it goes and share your observations.
Abhishek

Hi Abhishek, thanks for your response.
I was on 30.0 on macOS, but this happened happend with previous versions as well and on different computers.
I've updated to 30.1 and it's the same.
Maybe my explanation was not entirely clear but it happens with files I receive from customers, so not designed by me. I store them locally, open them in Illustrator, close them, and then see the enitre design with additional artwork in the "Recent" part of the the application frame. It is a bit like looking back in time.
Since these are customer files I don't feel comfortable sharing screenshots here.

Hello @jeroenv45252539,
Thanks for confirming. Please share a link to a sample file, along with a brief screen recording of the problem, via DM to Abhishek or me so we can check this further with the team.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
