I wonder why Illustrator is so awkward to navigate? What is the problem with conventions like CMD+z for undo, or two fingers scrolling to navitate over the canvas? Why can i not click on objects and move them around? I always fallback to Inkscape, when I try to use Illustrator, because of this counter-intuitive system. Is there a theory behind all of this, is it historical? It seems so off to have one of the main products in the field with so low usability.

So cmd+Z doesn't work for you?
I can't see any issues with it.
Two fingers for panning the artboard?
I'm doing that all the time.
Clicking on objects and moving them around?
That's what vector art is all about.
When was the last time you rebooted the sytem? Might be about time to do so. Or reset the preferences. You might want to contact Customer Care. They can login to your system to figure it out. https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html
Or maybe you just wanted to promote Inkscape. You're welcome!

It never ever worked. Neither on Windows nor on MacOS.
Two fingers zoom is working for you?

Yes, 2 fingers zoom works for me and all the other things you mentioned work fine too.

It's working most of the time. The other times when it's not working that is fully to blame on MacOS, (and then it's not working in any app). MacOS has a known issue with 2 finger zoom. https://9to5mac.com/2023/01/15/mac-trackpad-pinch-to-zoom/

That is so weird. I have had various versions of Illustrator on W10, W11, and MacOS and on none of the systems that was working. Maybe some special configuration is needed for that?

Nope. I've never had special configuration on any of my devices (wouldn't even know how to do that on Windows. My Surface is so old that I was actually surprised I could even install version 2024). Maybe you have something special set up that makes it not work.
