I have created a logo for a friend and in illustrator itself, it looks perfect. but when i go to export it into a transparent PNG or any other format, it puts an unwanted line through a section of it.

Anyone know how i can fix this as i cant see the issue on illustrator.

I have uploaded some screenshots so you get an idea of what i mean.

That's going to have to be something I need to learn how to do then! I managed to sort it this time round though. I had to slightly crop one side of the image and it disappeared 😕

What is that? A gradient? Or a pattern?

So that is not a gold gradient fill, but a placed bitmap.  I would recreate that as a vector gradient fill?

Otherwise need more info

  • specs of placed files, colorpsace, pixel width and eight
  • physical size of the gradient
  • png settings used
  • does thsi happen in other file formats liek .jpg or .pdf
  • Does the white line show if you open in photoshop

Hi @Charlie2892,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing. Would you mind sharing a few details along with the ones asked by Mike:

  • The exact version of Illustrator
  • Is this happening with this specific logo file? If yes, would it be possible for you to share it with us? We'll check it at our end.
  • Is this line appear in photos or the preview app as well?

We are here to help. We just need more info.

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul Saini

Hi Anshul,

I have sorted it now thank you! I had to slightly crop one side of the image as I had a deadline. Definitely going going to learn how to make a gradient myself in future 🙂
