I saved a png-8 bitmap with a transparent background from PS. When I opened it in Illustrator on my colleague's computer, the background was white. However, when I opened it in my own Illustrator, the background was transparent. I don't know what caused this.

How are you checking transparency in both cases? Is the transparency grid on? Is the PNG placed in front of other objects?

Drag the picture without background into our AI, but don't place it on the artboard, because the artboard appears white, and the outside of the artboard is gray. You can see that one is a material without background, and the other is automatically filled with a white background. But we are using the same picture material. No other elements are added, only the picture material without background is added.

However, this situation is not common. For the same pictures, there may be no problem with other pictures, but one or two pictures have problems. If you save this picture as PNG-24 bitmap, it will not automatically fill the white background when you open it.
I guess it is caused by some settings in AI. My boss hopes that I can study the principle in depth, and I have not found other reference cases.

Hi @Olavin,
Thanks for sharing the details!
To help troubleshoot, would you mind confirming if under Effect menu > Document Raster Effects Settings are correct and ensuring transparency settings are consistent?
Also, could you please share a sample file or screen recording demonstrating the issue and confirm the Illustrator version on your & colleagues' machines?
Looking forward to your response.
Best,
Anshul Saini
