When I open the png-8 bitmap with transparent background in Illustrator, the background becomes whit

I saved a png-8 bitmap with a transparent background from PS. When I opened it in Illustrator on my colleague's computer, the background was white. However, when I opened it in my own Illustrator, the background was transparent. I don't know what caused this.

How are you checking transparency in both cases? Is the transparency grid on? Is the PNG placed in front of other objects?
