I need to scream out to all long-time users of Adobe products! Who else is angry at all the changes in shortcuts and keyboard commands?!
I am on a Macbook Pro Mojave (also a horrible "upgrade) with Adobe CC - latest version with all updates.
I don't understand why Adobe would change every single one of their keyboard shortcuts and shortcuts in general. After using their software for 10+ years, shortcuts become so vital in your productivity and now I can't even easily shift my artboard from left to right.
In Illustrator, the spacebar used to give me the "hand" icon where I could move easily around on my artboards. Not anymore!
I can't move around?! REAL RUBBISH, Adobe!!
ZOOM IN used to be COMMAND + SPACEBAR and click however many times I wanted to zoom in
ZOOM OUT used to be COMMAND + OPT + SPACEBAR and click however many times I wanted to zoom out.
Now I have to stretch my hand out to use COMMAND + + and COMMAND + - ?!
Scaling in Photoshop? Come on!! Now holding the SHIFT key does the OPPOSITE it has for 15 years?
The entire change is absolute rubbish!!! Developers should know better. Adobe slaps its longtime users in the face with this change. It's obvious they aren't experts in their products nor do they probably even use them! I share this pain with several of my colleagues. Making a keyboard shortcut cheat sheet is not the answer, Adobe. PLEASE BRING BACK THE LEGACY COMMANDS AND SHORTCUTS!!
Long-time, dedicated but very frustrated customer,
J. McCann

And my comment about Mojave being terrible is likely the cause and NOT Adobe. So, I apologize if I offended Adobe's Developers.
If you add Adobe Illustrator to allow control over the computer, all my command and keyboard *tricks* are back to normal! It's APPLE MOJAVE that is the issue!

shortcuts are included in your preferences. if you don't change your preferences when installing new versions, your shortcuts should remain unchanged.
at least, that's how it works with the adobe apps i use. if something different happened with ai, i'll move your message so ai experts can comment.

It's not shortcuts to tools (like switching from arrow to pen), it's shortcuts/keyboard options like I specifically mention in detail in my original question.

I am having the same issues and it is causing projects to go beyond deadlines. Why does stuff like this have to be messed with. It is infuriating and makes me want to find alteranitve programs for all of our corporations.

Go to >System Preferences >Security & Privacy >Accessibility and make sure any Adobe product you are having similar issues with is added! This is crazy.

Basically any shortcut which was associated with Spacebar doesn't work anymore such as "zoom in and out", "hand tool", etc. in photoshop. I've also used to use the "Command" key individually for different purposes a lot such as moving the active selection before applying in photoshop, and getting hands-on move tool in InDesign, Illustrator, etc. which doesn't work now either.

Does it work when you close the browser and then launch only Illustrator?

Glad I could help.
I would love to be able to explain, but I can't. On this forum we only know that it sometimes helps. It might also not be the browser, but some plugin for the browser that is capturing your keystrokes.

Yes!!!!!!!!!! Totally with you on this. I went to use the hand tool and noticed things changed. I've used Adobe products less over the past 3 years. Fired up Illustrtor for the first time in a long while and my mouth dropped! Why. Would. You. Ever. Do That. To. Longtime. Users? Just doesn't make any sense! I thought there would be a way to reset it back to what I would call "legacy" options but no luck yet.
