I've extruded some text that I'd like to wrap to an arc/curved surface. Is that possible? If not, what would be the best way to do this?

Can you perhaps show an example or a sketch of what you want to do?

Sure...I've attached what it looks like in some CAD software...not sure how clear it is visually, but imagine this wrapping around a sphere.

For this result I would first create the arched text (depending on whether you want to distort it or not, use text on a path or envelopes)

Then make the extrusion.

The problem is...the arc doesn't follow the baseline of the type. It would follow the arc of the circumference.

This can't be done easily in Illustrator 3D

meaning: it cannot be one 3D object. Needs to be several: each letter in its own extrusion.

meaning: you won't be able to edit it easily.
