Hi - my illustrator on iPad is not updating to the new version released at max. It simply says 'open' in the App Store, and through the creative cloud app on iPad, the download button is greyed out. Do I need to delete the old version of the app?

Hi there,

Sorry about the trouble. Could you please share a few more details like:

  • The exact version of iPadOS & Illustrator is installed on your iPad currently.
  • Which iPad & generation of the model is this?
  • Screenshot of the Illustrator page in the App Store.
  • Have you tried using a different internet or restarting the iPad?
  • From which country/region/ time zone are you?

We are here to help. We just need more information.

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul Saini

I think I solved it -- When you go to the App Store, if you search for Adobe illustrator it simply says "open" since I have a version on my iPad. However, when you type "Ai for iPad max 21 update "-- you get a search item that says it's an ad. When you click on this, an update button pops up, and I was able to update. Not sure if others are having this issue. I am on a 2018 iPad with iOS15.1

thanks for getting back to me so quickly!

I also was on 1.3.x and saw only "Open" in the App Store. But, I tapped on the app header to show the detail, and when I did, "Open" changed to "Update."
