I've used the background remover tool from both Adobe Express and Photoroom. However, when I then upload the resulting image to Illustrator, it shows up with the original background removed but with a distorted version of the image as well. Sometimes I can troubleshoot this by choosing to download the modified image to my files v. to my photos, but eventually neither work.
This is a new issue as of the past few months. I have otherwise used both apps/tools and the same process to do this successfully for months and months prior. Any insight is much appreciated!

Hello @JBClancy,
Could you confirm the version of iPadOS/Illustrator installed and share a sample file here so I can check it?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hello @JBClancy,
Thanks for sharing the file. I tried using a PNG from the internet as well as using Adobe Express to remove background and exporting as a PNG (Saving to Photos) and then importing it in Illustrator, and it worked as expected.
Could you check if the exports from Adobe Express/Photoshop look distorted in other apps as well? If it does not, please try and delete/reinstall Illustrator and check for any pending iPadOS updates to see if it helps.
Note: Before deleting Illustrator, kindly ensure if all of your files are synced and available online on the Cloud Documents portal (https://adobe.ly/4hksEGW).
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Which apps do you suggest I try this in? I currently only have a supscription to Illustrator.
For me it works as expected the first few times, but then it seems to 'degrade'. I'll get a few perfect imports with the background fully erased, and then they'll start to get worse with some moderate distortion (like the first image I posted), and then progress into practically a solid background (like the file I uploaded).
I will also uninstall and report back. THANK YOU!
