Is the lasso selection tool available in Ai for the iPad? If not, does anyone know a work-around for selections that work like the lasso tool?

Thank you!

Jennifer

There is no Lasso tool on the iPad, hopefully in a future version! You could make selections easier by grouping and layering your art in an organized way, so you can lock parts of it to avoid selecting it when using the white arrow and black arrow tools. You can also select objects in the layers panel. If you turn down the triangles on a layer, you can click on an object to select it and hold shift (center touch ring) as you tap to add to your selection.

Also, double-tapping on a group with the black arrow puts it in Isolation mode, where you can select individual objects by single-tapping and use the center touch ring (like Shift) to add to your selection.

I hope that helps!

The Lasso tool selects multiple anchor points. To do that in Illustrator for iPad:

  • use the second tool in the toolbar (with arrow)
  • select the first point
  • use the Shift key on an external keyboard
    or
hold down the circle (with arrow) and select remaining anchor points
