1. Discover mode: (Jan Release)
As part of nurture, this month, we rolled out discover mode, which lets new users use the app without signing in. This removes a big point of friction in accessing the app and makes it much easier for a user to try out Illustrator on the web without signing in or subscribing. Once the user tries to export,
Share or save their content, though they need to subscribe.
2. Isolation Mode:
While we had an isolation experience in the app earlier, we never had a mode for isolated selection
and focus for art objects. With this month's update, we have a clear separation of stacking order for
isolated objects that our users can navigate or exit through the canvas or the layers panel. Layers
panel updates to only show isolated objects in this mode.
3. Discover mode 2.0 (Feb Release)
As part of nurture, this month, we rolled out Discover Mode 2.0. This is an important update with essential features like an In-app Paywall and a clear persistent 'upgrade' CTA in the app. We know these features improved the conversion for PS Web, and now we have them in discover mode for
Ai Web as well. Also improved the experience of the unentitled user once they sign in with this update.
4. Quick Pen tool: Auto-match arcs
This month's updates bring new dimensions to the Quick Pen tool experience in Ai Web. We now have an automatic matching of new arcs with existing artwork, simplifying the creation of symmetric shapes. This will make logo creation and branding identity workflows easier for new users coming to Ai Web.
5. Quick Pen tool: Radial snapping
Another foundational enhancement in the quick pen tool. With the radial snapping of arcs, our users can very precisely modify the spread of the arcs to quarter circles, semi-circles, and more. We have also added guides that allow for accurate visual placement on canvas. Together with auto-matching arcs, this month's release is a big step forward for new users trying the quick pen tool.
6. Hover states: Arts & Anchors
In this month's updates, we also implemented new hover states for all art types in AI on the Web. This
includes shapes, paths, Clipping Masks, path Finder objects, locked objects, and groups. We have
also built anchor hover states which show up in the direct selection tool. This will make it easier for users to locate and select the right art in complex files with dense art clusters.
We would love to hear your feedback on the improvements made and try out the new features. Look forward to sharing more updates soon.
Thanks,
Harshika
