There is no selected object after one is hidden, because hidden objects cannot be selected. Perhaps there should be another way of hiding and showing individual objects. You might want to detail how you expect it to work in a feature request:

Are you saying this should be the way Illustrator functions, or that you think something that used to function this way is no longer doing so?

Until V24.3 -> It did not activate hidden layers. This is what you should do now.

If you have a file with 4 hidden layers, when executing the command they should remain hidden.

I see no difference in behaviour between v24.3 and v23.

Steps:

1. I create a file with five layers, one object on each layer.

2. I hide layers 1 and 2.

3. I hide object 3 (Ctrl + 3)

4. I show hidden objects (Ctrl + Alt + 3)

Result = Object 3 is shown, layers 1 and 2 remain hidden as expected.

Can you share a sample file perhaps?

I see no difference in behaviour there either between v24.3 or v23.

Sublayers visibility is affected by Show All (ctrl+alt+3), main layers are not.

you're right, in previous versions it also happens 😞

Well it shouldn't happen.

The hide / show function should only be for the selected object

thx
