I recently upgraded my operating system on my Mac to Catalina. Now every time I try to open Illustrator it  crashes before opening.

What version are you use?

If it is CS6, it will not work as Catarina dropped the 32-bit application support.

This can be caused by a couple of things. First, I'd recommend resetting Illustrator preferences (hold control+shift+option+command through startup). If that doesn't work, you may be having a permission issue in your system library. That can often happen after an operating system upgrade. Please check this article, to reset system permissions.
