Ai smart guides not working

Usually as I create on ai, my text and vectors show lines that identify if the object I'm moving is lined up with others, if its the same distance away from one object as the opposite etc... But none of these "smart guides" if you will, are appearing. I never change my settings so not sure what is going on.

Is Snap to Grid turned on as well? If so, turn it off as it disables Smart Guides.
