.AIT files will not open in Adobe Illustrator, on my iPad 7th Gen

When I click on, "Import and open" the file that was downloaded shows up greyed out with the rest of the files that can't be opened up in Illustrator.  When I try to create a new document and then import it straight from there, it won't work like that either.

On the iPad you can only open AIC files from your Cloud account.
