ALT + Mouse Wheel doesn't scroll to cursor??

Just installed Illustrator on a new laptop. When I use ALT + mouse wheel, the view flies off away from the details i'm working on. Any ideas? This feels almost unusable.

UPDATE: sometimes it seems to work as expected...not sure why. I've double checked the zoom preferences and so on.

Sorry, I wasn't able to replicate this issue. The only thing I can think of is resetting the preferences.

Thank you for trying. Today it seems to be working great (?) 

Maybe it was related to having two large artboards...
