When working on documents to specified set to dimensions of 2500 pixels. I have noticed this issue.

Illustrator artboard is set up as 2500 px Square

When I place a high res png file into this illustrator document,

I know image size is 2500 px square @ 300 dpi.

It does not display as anticipated to fill the artboard - the file displays as less than a quarter of the size of the artboard. When checking the placed file info it states the placed image is 600px - 300ppi

yet when you open it in bridge or photoshop this image is clearly 2500 px @ 300dpi.

Please can someone help?
