Try View > Preview on CPU (or the French equivalent).

 

This bug has come up many times of the years in relation to GPU performance. Unfortunately I've not seen a solution.

Could BRUSH be applied on a STROKE?
Something must be selected from the brush panel.

From the Apperance panel, you can delete the pre-preferences or remove the Brush effect from the Brush panel.
