Okay the item I'm trying to mirror is a masked group, is it possible to have the center anchor be the center of the mask?

That method works, I'm a step closer, so thanks ya, but it seems to anchor the center of the content, and the object flies off in different directions.

I don't know the kind and the position of your mask (in layers hierarchy). Let us say it is also sel[0]

app.selection[0].resize(-100, 100, true, true, true, true, 100, Transformation.CENTER);

(Note: You cannot mirror an opacity mask)
