Blend tool not working

Hello im trying to blend two things together to grate a 3D effect but it wont let me blend. I have pictures of my work and what I am trying to acheive. if you can help me that would mean a lot!

Could you please post meaningful screenshots including the pertinent Panels (with the Layer expanded in the Layers Panel so one can see which objects are selected).

Hi,

Select both words, Next hover over the top word until you see a plus sign. Next Double click on Blend Tool and set your spacing to Specified steps.
