BOM on AI file

Hello, 

I would like to add a BOM (Bill of material) inside an Illustrator file, in order to obtain this, I need to develop a macro (VBA?) that ask to to user to specified the callout position, after reading an SQL db.

Is it possible? Suggestions?

It's certainly possible, but without more specific info on what database/ program you want to connect to, how the BOM is supposed to be formatted and a million other things nobody will be able to give you specific advise. From calculating the placment to defining object styles and text options this alone could be quite complex and then you haven't even fetched the data from the DB yet...
