Hi forum.
I often use the keyboard command option + arrow to simultaneously copy an object and move the copy.
But when I try to use this on a text object, I get some unwanted kerning instead. This slows down my workflow.
I really can't find out how to change this setting, so that option + arrow means "copy and move" regardless of the type of object. Does anybody know?

You need to select the text object with the selection tool. And not the text with the type tool.

Of course. But even with the object selected with the selection tool, option + arrow only gives me kerning.

You may be able to use this key combination with some dirty and cumbersome tricks, but I'd recommend to set up a simple action (Copy, Paste in Front, Move) and assign a shortcut to the action.

That's a good idea for a workaround, thanks.
Ideally, I would like to be able to assign my desired key combo to mean "copy and move" regardless of object category, and I'm a bit surprised it's not possible.
