Can not select object in Illustrator

Sorry to hear about your experience. This is really an unusual behavior of the app. Would you mind sharing more details about your workflow? Please share version of OS and Illustrator as well.
You may also share a small video or screenshots of the workflow. It'll help us understand the issue and work on it accordingly.
