I was given a png logo from a client and they want the color changed. I placed the logo in illistrator, embeded, and selected yet the recolor option is greyed out in edit and there's no recolor icon in my tool bar.

Please help!

Whenever someone autotraces a logo, a litter of kitten is crying.

Better: ask for a vector version.

Or: identify the font. Then re-create the logo.

I said could, not should!

I hope those kittens find a home.

Here is what I would do with a little help from Photoshop (excuse My french UI)

In the  link panel I would select to edit the original file

Capture d’écran 2021-07-22 à 12.07.01.png

Then in Photoshop I would add a color overlay that can be then changed at any time

Capture d’écran 2021-07-22 à 12.07.24.png

Closing and saving the file in Photoshop

Will have an alert box asking to validate the change in Illustrator

Capture d’écran 2021-07-22 à 12.07.42.png

And that's it
