Can't drag to select/ move items in Illustrator 2020

My 8 week old kitten walked all over my keyboard and ever since I've been unable to "drag to select" multiple items in illustrator. I'm usually able to drag a box over all the items that I would like to move and it selects them, but now this does nothing.

Also just realised I can't even drag items around any more. I can only move stuff using my arrow keys.

Anyone know how to re-enable this? Thanks

Reboot the computer.

Then try and reset the Illustrator preferences. https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/setting-preferences.html This will erase your settings. You might want to try and rename the folder as described in that link.
