Can't open files

Today my Illustrator started freezing and not opening files, I have to continually force quit. How can this be fixed, I need to work. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall the software?

Is there a printer connected, turned on and set up as the default printer?

If you don't have one, install a PDF printer.

If you have recently installed one, check the default printer setup

WHich version and system is it?

Where are your files stored?

Hi Monika,

My printer is set as default. It will open some files but not others.

My files are on my Mac hard drive.

My Mac system is Catalina 10.15.6

I need this resolved quickly I’m trying to meet a deadline.

Is there anything in those some files that they have in common? Linked files, a specific font?

You can contact Customer Care and they can login to your computer. https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html

You could upload such a file to Dropbox or the like and someone may try and check if they can be opened on a different computer.

I've resolved this issue.

I use extensis suitcase and I noticed all of the font previews looked the same and I had to force quit to close.

I basically trashed the preferences and re set suitcase and now Illustrator is happy again.
