Cant edit my logo

So I used Fiverr to make a logo a few weeks ago. I recently bought the adobe creative pack so i got all the programs. I want to change up the color of my logo and tweak with the fonts. I"m pretty sure the designer gave me all the right source files.

So every time I try to edit the .ai files in illustrator, the recolor art button is greyed out and can't edit anything. I'm I using the wrong file? Did the designer not send the right files? Thanks for the help

Can you show a screenshot with the AI file open, the logo selected and the layers panel visible?

This appears to have been made by applying clipping paths to an image, which would be a very strange way of doing it.

Something similar can happen if you open a document containing freeform gradients in an Illustrator version that doesn't support them. What version of Illustrator are you using?

Illustrator (25.0) Of course I buy the strange logo lol

This might also happen when the artwork has been created in a different application.
