In the latest version the zoom in and zoom out function doesn't work with the "Space+Cmnd+Option" character combination and the "Space+Cmnd+Shiftcharacter combination". The hand tool also not works with "Space" character. Really annoying…

Shut down everything (yes, this includes your browser), then launch only Illustrator.
Some other application is most probably interfering and stealing modifier keys from Illustrator.
