Clipping Mask and Stroke Issue

I have applied a clipping mask and am wondering why, when a stroke is applied to the text, the stroke appears to offset? I've attached an image. I assume it has to do with the editable text state, along with the clipping mask, as the issue is resolved if the clipping mask is still applied but the text is outlined.

Thank you so much!!

Mask and text are somehow rendered differently. You could try if you can add the effect > Path > Outline object to either the text object or the stroke. But apart from that there is not a lot you can do.
