Color Guide Changes the Leading of a Type Object

Something is making a change to the Leading of a type object as soon as I make any change to the color of the type using Color Guide.  Never seen this issue before.  Any thoughts?

 

Two screen shots attached...

 

No change to colorNo change to colorNew color selected, text leading changesNew color selected, text leading changes

Update: Quitting Illustrator has no effect.  Copying and pasting the affected text into a new document reproduces the result, but opening a new document and typing something different does NOT reproduce the issue, so it may be some kind of corruption within that one text object.
