Hello!

I ´d like to ask you, I created the pattern, I would like to have separated objects and background via compound path. Usually I crop the pattern or  a I use only make a clipping mask, so I don´t have an experience with this type of process.

I followed this tutorial: Object>Expand Deselect all Select>Object>Clipping Mask DeleteSelect all Object>Flatten Transparency>Accept default settings (this will eliminate unwanted groups)Object>Compound Path>Make

The problem is that after applying clipping mask, showed me the message that it is too complex, I applied it, and the whole pattern was destroyed, there was maybe just one part visible and changed also a color.

Could you, please, advise me, how to make it properly? Thank you.

Thanks,

You could create a new document.

Create a rectangle the same size as your pink background (make sure the size does not contain fractional pixels)

Select it and choose Object > Pattern > Make

This sets your repeat tile.

Copy the leaves from another document without the pink background.

Paste into the patternmaker, and adjust.

When ready click Done.

Apply your patternswatch to an object.

In the Appearance panel creat a new fill.

Adjust the fill below the top pattern fill with the color you

Maybe some pictures would make clear what you mean.

Do you want a pattern without background?

Please use the Insert Photos button.

Hello, no, I ´ d like to have the all objects merged together and the background separated, because now there is a lot of paths. So there should be only 2 sections.

I am enclosing the pattern.

Thank you.

Please do not attach images, use the Insert Photos button.

Do you use the Object > Pattern > Make funtion in Illustrator?

You can skip the background and add it later as a separate fill below the pattern in the appearance panel.
